A little about me.

Hello, my name is Karina Pierce and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). Sometimes, life can be a juggling act and can become overwhelming and exhausting for some. I am here to support your needs as a therapist to balance your life, empower you, guide you along your path in navigating the world around you. I am passionate about co-creating a space to share meaning making, building and strengthening your foundation within yourself, relationships with others, with families, and with the community.

I have a background working with justice-involved youth in a detention setting, residential setting, and behavioral health in an acute inpatient care setting. These unique experiences allowed me to work with youth, adults, and families from various socioeconomic backgrounds and how certain disparities may have impacted them.

Additionally, as a Chinese American, I understand the complexities of issues that affect the development, cultural experiences, and the issues some deal with, particularly in the underserved/underrepresented communities. I have personally experienced as well as worked with issues pertaining to acculturation, immigration, and identity. I also have experience processing with individuals and their support systems around transnational/ transracial adoptions and related issues.

Lastly, as a spouse of a veteran, I have a passion for serving veterans, families and their support system as I understand the challenges and adjustments from military life to civilian life.

When I do not have my therapist hat on, I am with my family. I enjoy cooking as that's my stress reliever, and just spending time with people I care about. I take time throughout the day to ensure I am doing something for myself, even if that means a short walk (even in the rain) to a quick mindfulness meditation or breathing exercise before bedtime with my kiddos.
