Frequently Asked Questions
What is Therapy like?
Individual therapy is a process where you share what is going on in your life with a therapist who is trained to help you make the most of your life. This could be changes you want to make, goals you want to meet or exploration of how things might be different.
This relationship is built on trust and empathy.
What can I expect in the first session?
The first session is the foundation for therapy. During the first session you and your therapist will review your history and current hopes and goals for treatment. Your therapist will likely ask you quite a few questions about your life story and will only ask you to share what you feel comfortable with. We know it can be scary to share a lot of information with someone you barely know, so we will work together to make sure you feel comfortable.
What can I do to prepare for therapy?
Getting ready for therapy really just involves a few things! You will want to think about why you are coming to therapy, what goals you are trying to meet and filling out the paperwork!
All of our paperwork is completed through a secure online portal. Most people complete it in less than 10 minutes.
What is it like working with a student intern?
Student interns are great! They are being trained in the newest techniques and are excited to work with you! They are dedicating this year to learning how to be the best therapist they can be, so they are going to have time to make sure they are using the best techniques and tools for you.
Additionally, they are under supervision from multiple professionals in the field - so you are getting more support.
Can I use my insurance?
Licensed Clinicians at our practice accept some insurance. You can check out which insurance she takes on the Getting Started Page.
Our Associate Clinicians also accept some insurance (see our insurance page) and Student Interns do not accept insurance at this time.
Associate Clinicians have a fee of 125 per hour.
The Student Interns have a fee of 35-50.00 per hour. Student Interns are able to offer scholarships for people who request them.
