A little about me
I approach clients the way I approach everyone – with curiosity, caring, and kindness. My approach is person-centered, respecting my clients as the experts of their own experiences. I am certified as a Level I Restoration Therapist and aim to incorporate elements of cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, and mindfulness in my work with clients. I help adults and teens 16 and older who feel stuck to better understand themselves and move forward with intention. I believe therapy works because it has worked for me.
My goal is to create a safe space in which my clients can trust me with the messiest and most vulnerable parts of themselves. I believe that our early life experiences profoundly shape us, in ways that can be both healthy and unhealthy. I also believe that with clear insight, we can reveal our patterns, expose our pain, and heal our wounds, allowing us more choice in how we think, feel, and act. Whether it’s anxiety, depression, grief, loneliness, stress, or trauma, I am here to listen to your story. Maybe you are in a time of transition and need support as you navigate tough decisions. Together we can help you feel more deeply connected to yourself and others.
In addition, my first career as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist taught me to value Health at Every Size® and intuitive eating. If you are tired of having a dysfunctional relationship with food and/or your body, I will strive to help you break free from dieting and chasing an “ideal” body weight. Let’s forget diet culture and honor our perfectly imperfect bodies just as they are!
I have earned a Master of Science in nutrition from Oregon State University and a Bachelor of Science in biology from Pacific University. I am currently a Master’s-level student of Clinical Mental Health Counseling at George Fox University. I am under supervision from both my university and Dr. Sanderson and Associates.
My roots are in Oregon. I was born and raised on the Oregon coast and have
lived most of my adult life in Portland. My husband and I have a son in college and dream of traveling someday. I love my family…and savor my precious alone time! I love tennis, dogs, podcasts, freshly baked cookies, strong coffee, and even stronger friendships.
