A little about me
I help adults and teens to cope with marginalization or other life circumstances, heal old wounds, understand themselves, find meaning, or live in alignment with their values.
In my work, I hope to foster collaborative storytelling and individual empowerment, whether in a group setting or one-on-one. We live our lives according to narratives we tell ourselves and narratives others tell us. I hope to help you understand these stories better and give you greater agency to re-write them.
Though I have tools and techniques that may help you achieve your goals, such as grounding exercises to cope with anxiety, I believe the most important parts of therapy are a sense of alliance and trust. My primary goal is to create a validating and de-stigmatizing space where you are treated as the expert of your experiences and comfortable sharing your pains and struggles. My philosophy is to strive for equality and collaboration in a therapeutic relationship. This means your trust is something for me to earn, not demand.
I am a graduate of Lewis and Clark College’s Professional Mental Health Counseling M.A. program, where I worked with a diverse range of clients and helped write an APA handbook for counselors working with trans and nonbinary clients. I am currently under the supervision of Dr. Sanderson.
I utilize an integrative approach drawing primarily on person-centered therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), while also borrowing ideas from feminist therapy, narrative therapy, and queer theory.
In my free time, I play games with friends, try new recipes with my partner, read Sci-Fi, advocate for my community, and nap.
